Gold Medal Ales are produced monthly
in recognition of some of the 'greats' of history. In August 1948, Australia's Donald George Bradman, the greatest batsman of all time, ended a unique cricket career when he walked out to bat at the Oval, to a standing ovation from the crowd and three cheers from the England side. Facing his second ball from legspinner Eric Hollies he misjudged it and was bowled between bat and pad for no score. He returned to the pavilion with tears of emotion in his eyes as the crowd gave him another massive standing ovation. Australia won the series and the “invincibles” retained the Ashes. |
